Checkers Darling Loaned To Crunch

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers have loaned goaltender, Curtis Darling to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

Darling, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, hails from Calgary, Alberta. In four games this season with the Checkers, he has a record 1-2 holding a 2.20 goals against average with a .915 save percentage with one shutout. This will mark his first stint in the American Hockey League. He signed his first professional contract with the Reading Royals during this past off season and was traded to Charlotte in late November. The 24-year-old goaltender played the three previous seasons for the University of Waterloo in the Canadian Interuniversity Sports (CIS).

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on Dec. 13 against the Gwinnett Gladiators. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
