Charleston, SC - The Johnstown Chiefs fell for the third time on their southern road trip, beaten by the South Carolina Stingrays 5-2

The Chiefs fell behind on a power play goal by the Rays Matt Reid 8:18 into the first. But South Carolina gave the Chiefs a 5-on-3 man advantage and Ryan Garlock would cash in from the blue line with a slap shot to even the score. Kenny Roche then made a great forehand move across the crease and slid the puck past South Carolina's Davis Parley at 19:44 of the first for a 2-1 Johnstown lead.

Andrew Penner would turn away a Scott Romfo penalty shot in the first to prevent a South Carolina 2-0 lead.

South Carolina answered with a strong second period to take a 3-2 lead. Matt Reid fired a point shot in on the power play on the power play for the second Rays goal. Matt Scherer would then fire a wrist shot past Penner from the right wing with 42 seconds left in the period.

Two third-period goals by the Stingrays, one by Steve Pinizzotto and one by Travis Morin, would put the game out of the Chiefs' reach.

The Chiefs power play scored once going 1-for-4 while Penner saved 28 of the 33 Stingrays shots.

The Chiefs' next home game is on Friday December, 21 against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
