COLUMBIA, SC - The Florida Everblades (14-8-0) improved to 3-1-0 vs. the Columbia Inferno after engineering a come-from-behind 3-2 win on Saturday night at the Carolina Coliseum in front of a crowd of 3,446. Rookie defenseman Jordan Henry led the way with a goal and an assist and goaltender Justin Peters turned in another solid effort stopping 32 of 34 shots.

A feisty first period saw each team tally a goal in the first 20 minutes of play. The Inferno opened the scoring at 6:07 of the frame when Steve McJannet took a centering feed from behind the Everblade net and back-handed a shot from the top of the crease over the glove of Everblades goaltender Justin Peters.

The Everblades responded late in the frame when Jarret Lukin deflected a shot by Jordan Henry past Columbia net-minder Todd Ford at 15:36. Lukin's second goal of the season came after Kirk MacDonald worked the puck free from behind the Inferno net and fed a pass to Henry in the high slot where he let his shot fly. The period also featured its fair share of rough stuff as the teams combined for 26 penalty minutes and included a fight between Dan Collins of the Everblades and Donny Grover of the Inferno.

The physical play slowed a bit in the second period and each team notched an early goal in the middle frame. The Inferno re-gained their lead just 1:49 into the period when McJannet notched his second goal of the game by banging in a pass from Todd Perry at the left post. Florida however just needed 41 seconds after the goal to even the score at two. Brad Zancanaro notched his 6th goal of the season by diving and batting in a loose puck from the left of Ford at 2:30. Ernie Hartlieb and David Cornacchia each assisted on the goal.

The Everblades grabbed their first lead of the night on a tremendous individual effort by Henry. The rookie defenseman scooped up a bouncing puck behind the Florida net and skated the length of the ice weaving through the defense of Columbia before letting a wrist shot fly from the slot that sailed over the glove of Ford and into the net with 6:09 remaining in the contest. The Inferno turned up the pressure over the closing moments, but the Everblades did a strong job limiting the Inferno chances to hang on for the win.

Peters improved his record to 10-4-0, while Ford fell to 7-4-3 after allowing the three goals on 30 shots.

On the power play, the Everblades closed out night 0-for-4, while the Inferno finished 0-for-5.
