Wranglers Fall To Thunder 3-2 In A Shootout

Stockton, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers (15-2-2, 32 points) were defeated by the Stockton Thunder (9-10-2, 20 points) 3-2 in a shootout at the Stockton Arena on Friday night. Stockton's Ryan O'Mara netted the game-winning goal in the shootout. Las Vegas forward Ryan Donally and defenseman Tyson Strachan each scored in the defeat. Las Vegas goalie John Ceci stopped 29 of 31 Stockton shots in the loss. Stockton's Ryan MacMurchy and Andy Contois each scored in regulation for the Thunder. Stockton goalie Glenn Fisher picked up the win, stopping 25 of 27 Wranglers shots and four of five in the shootout. Las Vegas will play in Stockton again on Saturday at 7:30 pm.

In the first, Stockton tallied the only goal of the period just 2:55 into the game. Forward Ryan MacMurchy poked in a rebound past Las Vegas goalie John Ceci for the 1-0 Thunder lead.

In the second period, Las Vegas tied the game 1-1 when defenseman Tyson Strachan scored his first professional goal at 1:39. Strachan fired a shot from the point that beat Stockton goalie Glenn Fisher for his first goal of the season for the rookie defenseman.

In the third period, Las Vegas took a 2-1 lead as Ryan Donally netted his sixth goal of the season at 8:06. The Ferraro twins set up the power-play tally. Stockton countered with a goal by Andy Contois at 13:27 of the third period, tying the game at two, forcing a scoreless overtime.

Stockton's Ryan O'Mara and Brandon Schwartz each scored in the shootout, while Shawn Limpright tallied the only shootout goal for Las Vegas. The Thunder edged the Wranglers 2-1 in the shootout for the 3-2 final score.

Las Vegas will remain in Stockton for a game tonight at 7:30 pm. The Wranglers will then head to Utah for three games at the E-Center with the Grizzlies starting Wednesday, December 12th at 6:05 pm. Las Vegas will return home for the midnight game on Monday, December 17th at 11:59 pm at the Orleans Arena.
