
Chatham's Three Hits Leads 'Dogs to 7-3 Win

Portland, Maine - The Sea Dogs (10-13) jumped out to an early lead and led wire-to-wire with a 7-3 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies (11-14) on Saturday night at Hadlock Field.
The Sea Dogs got off to a quick start when CJ Chatham singled off of Mickey Jannis in the bottom of the first to make it 1-0.
Brett Netzer added a sac fly to plate Austin Rei in the second and it was 2-0 'Dogs after two innings.
In the third, Portland sent all nine to the plate against Jannis and scored three more runs on four hits. Netzer added another RBI with a single while Luke Tendler drove in a run with a double as well.
Denyi Reyes (W, 4-9) won his second straight start and went six innings while allowing just an unearned run on five hits. It marked the ninth straight start for Reyes going six innings or more.
Jannis (L, 5-2) allowed five earned runs on 11 hits over six innings with two walks and three strikeouts.
Dedgar Jimenez entered the game in the seventh and worked two scoreless innings of relief for Portland. Binghamton loaded the bases against him in the eighth inning, but Jimenez was able to strike out Luis Carpio looking to end the threat.
CJ Chatham added to the Portland lead with a two-run double in the ninth off of Austin McGeorge. Portland combined for 14 hits - Chatham, Bobby Dalbec, Joey Curletta, Tendler, and Jeremy Rivera each had multi-hit games.
Jason Krizan hit a two-run homer into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion off of Matthew Gorst to add two more runs to the Rumble Ponies line score.
The series finale is Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 PM first pitch at Hadlock Field. LHP Daniel McGrath (2-0, 2.04) makes his seventh start of the season for Portland. Binghamton has not announced their starter for Sunday. Radio coverage on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network begins at 12:45 PM. The game is available on the tune-in app and MiLB.TV.
