South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals, are reminding fans that the club's Charleston Strong Jersey auction closes tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10 at 9 p.m. ET. These special Charleston Strong jerseys are being auctioned off on Auctions.NHL.com with proceeds raised going to the children of the Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting victims.
The jerseys were worn on Opening Night on October 17 as part of Mother Emanuel AME Church Family Night, an evening to honor and remember individuals impacted in the Charleston church shooting this past June. Survivors were in attendance that evening and dropped the puck prior to the game.
Bids for the Charleston Strong game-worn jerseys may be submitted online at Auctions.NHL.com. A link is also available via StingraysHockey.com. Collectors, fans, and supporters worldwide can bid to help the families of the many affected by the shooting that claimed nine lives, and left three survivors deeply impacted.
The jerseys of former NHL enforcer Trevor Gillies, along with goaltender Mark Dekanich and fan-favorite Patrick Gaul have all gained some of the largest bids so far heading into the final hours of the auction.
The specialty jersey features the "Charleston Strong" motto, which has brought the community together in unity, across the front of the uniform. The design of the jersey also features the Mother Emanuel AME Church logo on the shoulder. A silhouette of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, one of Charleston's most iconic landmarks, appears on both sides of the jersey.
The Stingrays are back in action this Friday and Saturday at the North Charleston Coliseum against Orlando. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. both nights. Friday is a Rays 4 Pack Night, featuring 4 tickets, 4 sodas, 4 hot dogs and one large popcorn for $65. Tickets may be purchased at the North Charleston Coliseum Box Office or online via Ticketmaster. For more information, fans may call the Stingrays at 843-744-2248 or visit StingraysHockey.com.
