
Chad Beck Shines But Fisher Cats Drop Two

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester, NH)---Chad Beck allowed one hit in 5.1 scoreless innings and Anthony Gose went 2-for-3 with an RBI but the Fisher Cats dropped a 5-2 decision to New Britain on Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. New Britain also won the completion of Wednesday's suspended game, 4-3, in 12 innings.
Beck allowed only an infield single to Evan Bigley leading off the second inning. He walked two and struck out three.
New Hampshire (49-35) took a 1-0 lead to the top of the seventh but could not close the game out. New Britain sent ten men to bat, scoring five times. Pinch-hitter Yangervis Solarte singled home two runs with the bases loaded to put the Rock Cats in front and Brian Dozier followed with a two-run triple. He scored on a single by Joe Benson to make it 5-1.
In the last of the seventh inning, the Fisher Cats threatened. Callix Crabbe, who reached on a fielders choice, scored on a double by Craig Stansberry to make it 5-2. But New Hampshire could not get any closer against reliever Deolis Guerra.
Frank Gailey (0-2) took the loss for the Fisher Cats.
Steve Hirschfield (6-5) worked the first six innings to win for the Rock Cats (45-39). He walked Craig Stansberry and Justin Jackson in the third inning ahead of the Gose double, which plated a run. He allowed just three hits and struck out five.
In the completion of the suspended game from Wednesday night, the Fisher Cats rallied twice, but fell 4-3 in 12 innings.
Mike McDade (2-for-5) tied the score at 3-3 with a home run leading off the bottom of the ninth inning.
New Britain earned the win in the top of the 12th inning. Solarte doubled and scored on a single by Chris Herrmann off losing pitcher Bobby Korecky (2-1).
Tony Davis (2-2) picked up the win working two scoreless innings in relief.
