
Senators Complete Sweep of Erie

On Thursday night in front of 4,254 fans at Metro Bank Park the Senators finished off their four-game sweep of Erie with a 5-0 win. Harrisburg improved to a season-best 51-44, 17 games over .500 with the win. It was their eighth straight home win and ninth shutout on the season.
Chien-Ming Wang started for the Senators, his third rehab start for the Washington Nationals, and he was nearly perfect. He faced just one batter over the minimum in his five innings of work allowing just two hits while striking out two. He threw 43 pitches, 32 of them for strikes.
Jimmy Barthmaier, Cory VanAllen, and Pat Lehman combined to pitch the final four innings allowing just a walk and combining to strike out four.
Chris Rahl started the scoring with a two-run double in the first giving the Sens a 2-0 lead. Bill Rhinehart homered in the 3rd, his 17th on the season and Archie Gilbert doubled in a run giving the Senators a 4-0 lead. Tyler Moore hit a solo home run in the fifth, also his 17th on the season, giving the Sens the final tally in their 5-0 win. Moore, Rahl, and Gilbert all had two hits for the Sens.
Harrisburg heads to Richmond to take on the Flying Squirrels in a five-game weekend series beginning Friday night at 7:05 p.m. LH Oliver Perez is on the hill Friday night for the Sens as they begin their final series prior to the All-Star break.
