Chesapeake Baysox News Release
BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today a Jayson Werth Bobblehead Giveaway at Prince George's Stadium Monday, July 25, as the team takes on the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans ages three and up receive the bobbling rendition of the former Baysox catcher.
Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross looks forward to the series. "The announcement of Bryce Harper joining the Harrisburg Senators has elevated the attention and excitement surrounding this Baby Beltway Series," Shallcross said. "Having the Werth bobblehead giveaway certainly sweetens the pot. My advice to all fans is to secure your tickets now and get here early for the giveaway."
The bobblehead stands approximately seven and a half inches tall and shows Werth throwing a ball while wearing a chest protector and shin guards. The figurine features the former backstop in Bowie's home white jersey with black shoes and socks and Werth's name and the number 44 on the back.
Werth played parts of three seasons in Bowie from 1998-2000, batting .237 in 125 games with six home runs and 38 RBIs. His best season was 1999 when he hit .273 with five doubles, one triple, one home run and 11 RBIs.
Fans can also pick up the bobblehead with the Futures of the Beltway Series Ticket Package. The package is $42 and includes Lower Reserved seat tickets on the visiting team side for all three games of the Harrisburg series, early admittance to the ballpark for all three games of the series and a free raffle to win autographed merchandise every game of the series. The Futures of the Beltway Series ticket package is available now by calling the Baysox at (301) 464-4880, or online at www.BaysoxShop.com starting Friday, July 8.
