
CF Montréal Acquires Frankie Amaya on Loan from Deportivo Toluca FC

MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced today that it has acquired midfielder Frankie Amaya on loan from Liga MX club Deportivo Toluca FC until the end of the 2026 season.
"Frankie is an experienced midfielder with strong technical skills," said CF Montréal Managing Director, Recruitment and Sporting Methodology Luca Saputo. "His capacity to maintain possession along with his ability to link the defence to offence will provide us with additional options and strengthen our squad."
Amaya joined Toluca in 2024 where he totalled 18 matches and two assists, in all competitions. He spent the 2025 season on loan at LAFC where he scored one goal in 19 MLS matches. Amaya also played in three Leagues Cup games, three FIFA Club World Cup games and one MLS Cup playoff match.
The 25-year-old played seven MLS seasons with LAFC (on loan), Red Bull New York and FC Cincinnati. He made 150 appearances (starting 112 matches) playing 9,743 minutes, scoring 10 goals and adding nine assists.)
Amaya was selected first overall in the 2019 MLS Superdraft by FC Cincinnati. Prior to his selection, he lined up for the UCLA Bruins in the 2018 NCAA season, receiving Freshman All-American, First Team All-Pac-12 honours.
On the international stage, Amaya has represented the United States at the U20 level and notably helped his country win the 2018 Concacaf U20 Championship.
