St. Louis City SC News Release
CITY SC begins its quest for an 11th Open Cup championship, facing USL Championship side FC Tulsa on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. CT, streaming on Paramount+.
One of the most historic soccer competitions in the world is returning to Energizer Park for another year. A tournament steeped in tradition, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing soccer competition in the United States, giving clubs from every level of the American soccer ecosystem a shot at winning a trophy.
"We are all in on the Open Cup. We know how important the Open Cup is for this club and for the city, given its longstanding history in St. Louis, and it's a tournament we take seriously as a group," Head Coach Yoann Damet said. "It's a great opportunity for us to compete for silverware and continue building our identity in a tournament-style competition. FC Tulsa will be a good challenge, and our focus is on our preparation and making sure we represent the club, the fans, and the city with our performance."
FC Tulsa, which competes in the USL Championship, will be making their first ever visit to Energizer Park. Through their first four matches of the USL regular season, FC Tulsa is 1-1-2, with its only win coming at home against Las Vegas Lights FC. Tulsa faced San Antonio FC in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup on April 1, winning 1-0. FC Tulsa was founded in 2013 and has competed in the USL Championship for 13 seasons, most recently winning the USL Western Conference Championship title last season.
CITY SC made its U.S. Open Cup debut against Union Omaha in 2023, delivering a commanding 5-1 victory at Energizer Park in front of a sold-out stadium, setting a record for attendance in a Third Round Open Cup match. Now, fans will once again have the opportunity to witness the thrill of sudden-death soccer in one of the country's premier venues.
General admission tickets for the match are on sale now at www.seatgeek.com. Fans can expect a dynamic matchday experience at Energizer Park, with special activations and in-stadium programming celebrating CITY SC's role in the broader U.S. soccer landscape and highlighting the unique energy of knockout competition under the stadium lights.
