FC CINCINNATI ALL-TIME AGAINST RED BULL NEW YORK Saturday marks the 21st all-time meeting between FC Cincinnati and Red Bull New York (formerly New York Red Bulls). New York lead the all-time series spanning all competitions dating back to the 2017 U.S. Open Cup Semifinals, 8-7-5.
FC CINCINNATI NOTES Strong Off The International Breaks - Nine FC Cincinnati players joined their countries during the March FIFA International Window. Five at the senior level: Miles Robinson (United States), Pavel Bucha (Czechia), Kévin Denkey (Togo), Teenage Hadebe (Zimbabwe) and Bryan Ramirez (Ecuador); four at the youth level: Ademar Chávez (United States U17), Andrei Chirila (United States U18), Samuel Gidi (Slovakia U21) and Gerardo 'Dado' Valenzuela (United States U21).
Last November's playoff loss to Inter Miami CF was an anomaly: Since the start of the 2023 season, FC Cincinnati are 9-1-4 in the first match following a FIFA window. In all but three of those windows (March 2023, March 2024, March 2025), MLS paused for the international window and there was at least 10 days off between games before and after the break.
The window was highlighted by Denkey's two goals for Togo, Chirila starting in both matches for the U.S. U17s and Gidi recording an assist in UEFA Euro U21 qualifying in a 3-1 win at Kazakhstan.
A Familiar Venue - FC Cincinnati have played more road matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium than any other road venue, by far. Saturday will be FCC's 17th all-time visit to SI Stadium and the 15th in FCC's MLS era (since 2019). FCC have also faced NYCFC three times in Harrison and additionally traveled to Red Bulls II twice in the club's USL days.
A Familiar Opponent - Saturday will be FC Cincinnati's 21st all-time match against New York, tied with Columbus Crew for the Orange and Blue's most-faced opponent in all competitions.
Back In Action - Saturday will have been nearly two weeks since FC Cincinnati's last home match, a 4-3 win over CF Montréal. That match on March 22 was a much-needed three points for the Orange and Blue, who battled playing the final 30-plus minutes down a man and came from behind three times as Kévin Denkey's stoppage-time winner gave FCC the win.
He Earned It - FC Cincinnati announced Thursday the signing of FC Cincinnati 2 defender Andrei Chirila as a Homegrown Player on a contract through the 2028-29 Major League Soccer season, with an option through the 2029-30 season. Chirila, 17, becomes the third player in club history - following his brother Stefan Chirila and Ademar Chávez - to follow the player pathway from the FC Cincinnati Academy to an MLS NEXT Pro contract with FC Cincinnati 2 to then sign a first-team MLS contract. The 6-foot-3-inch center back has already made three appearances on short-term loan with FCC, starting and going the full 90 minutes in each of his outings
SCOUTING RED BULL NEW YORK Record: 2-2-1 (7 points) Standings: 8th, Eastern Conference
Head Coach: Michael Bradley (First Season) Leading Scorer: 4 - Julian Hall Last Three Matches: 6-1 loss at Charlotte FC (March 21) | 1-1 draw at Toronto FC (March 14) | 3-0 loss vs CF Montréal (March 8)
Red Bull New York are under a new name in 2026 and a new manager, as former MLS and USMNT icon Michael Bradley has taken over as head coach, returning to the club where he made his professional playing debut 22 years ago to lead the next generation. Bradley, who was the head coach of the Red Bulls MLS NEXT Pro club in 2025, made nearly 300 appearances in MLS for New York and Toronto FC combined, and 151 appearances for the U.S. Men's National Team.
With Bradley as the new manager, the American has been fearless in adding young players to the lineup and has ushered in a youth movement for the Red Bulls in only five games. Three of New York's top 10-minute getters this season have been 17-year-olds or younger, with four of their five goals coming from forward Julian Hall, who only turned 18 over the international break. Fellow teens Adri Mehmeti (16) and Matthew Dos Santos (17) have also logged over 320 minutes each this season.
Captain Emil Forsburg remains a force in the middle, playing every possible minute this season. Americans Cade Cowell, 22, and Jorge Ruvalcaba, 24, have also been core members of the squad through five matches. American goalkeeper Ethan Horvath came this season to New York after stints in Europe.
On the defensive side of the ball, the young Dos Santos has been a key contributor on the left side of a back four. In the middle, the somewhat more veteran Robert Voloder and Gustav Berggren have been on patrol. That said, Berggren received a red card in their last match and will thus be unavailable.
