BINGHAMTON, NY - Binghamton Mets shortstop Gavin Cecchini was recognized on Thursday as the Eastern League Player of the Month for July. In 29 games, Cecchini hit a league-best .387 with 11 extra-base hits and 18 RBI. The Louisiana native registered a dozen multiple-hit games, including a quartet of four-hit performances and a career-high five-hit effort on July 30 against Richmond.

Cecchini, 22, racked up 48 hits in the month, surpassing his previous career-high hit total in a month by 13. The 2012 first-round pick out of Alfred M. Barbe HS (LA) compiled a .532 slugging percentage and a .453 on-base percentage.

The 2015 Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star sits second in the Eastern League with a .312 batting average, tied for fifth with 56 runs score and second in total bases with 173.

Cecchini is the first B-Met to win Player of the Month honors since Cesar Puello took the title in June 2013.
