Cats fall to Rox

The Border Cats let a 3-2 6th inning lead slip away as they lost 7-3 to the St. Cloud Rox Thursday night at Joe Faber Field. The Rox rallied by scoring three times in the 6th inning and then added two more runs in the 7th as the Cats second half record slipped to 2-6.

Jordan Church (Sam Houston State University) started for the Cats and took the loss to fall to 0-4. The 6'7" righthander pitched five-plus innings and gave up six hits and five runs (four earned). Church walked four and struck out five.

Cory Kay (Missouri State University) belted his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the top of the 3rd inning. Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) had two hits, including his sixth home run, that put Thunder Bay ahead 3-2 in the top of the 6th inning.

The Cats and Rox will go head-to-head again this weekend in Thunder Bay as the two teams open a two-game series tonight at Subway Field at 7:05pm. Chris Kerwood (Arkansas State University) will take his 3-2 record to the mound for the Cats in the opener.
