October 29, 2025 - Rochester, Minn. - The Northwoods League has announced that Thunder Bay Border Cats have received the 2025 Northwoods League Video Production Team of the Year Award.
Northwoods League teams provide what many consider to be one of the best developmental sports broadcasting opportunities offered. October 9, 2025 - Thunder Bay, Ont., - The Thunder Bay Border Cats are excited to announce that field manager Joe Ellison has agreed to a new three-year contract extension through the 2028 Northwoods League season. The 34-year-old native of Toronto, Ont., was named the 15th manager in franchise history on September 5, 2024, and is the second Canadian born skipper to lead the club, joining Mike Steed, who guided the Cats in 2010 and 2011.

Righthander Matthew Tippie (Texas State University) signed as a free agent with the New York Yankees organization following the conclusion of the 2025 Major League Draft.
Tippie, a 22-year-old righthander from Wimberley, Texas, appeared in five games with the Cats during the 2023 season and had an 0-1 record with a 3.38 earned run average. He struck out 24 batters in ... Full Story
July 15, 2025 - Thunder Bay, Ont., - The Thunder Bay Border Cats are proud to announce a pair of former pitchers from the 2023 Northwoods League season were selected in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft. Pitchers Riely Hunsaker (Lamar University) and Peyton Fosher (University of Nevada) were both chosen on the final day of the draft on Monday.
Hunsaker, a 22-year-old righthander from Peculiar, Missouri, was taken in the 16th round, 481st overall, by the Chicago Cubs. Hunsaker appeared in four games for the Border Cats during the 2023 ... Full Story
