
St. Cloud Rox Take Game Four 7-3 over Thunder Bay

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Thunder Bay Border Cats finished their four game series here in St. Cloud Thursday night as the Rox defeated the Border Cats 7-3. St. Cloud finished the series going 3-1.
The Rox showed no hesitation in the first inning as they took a 1-0 lead. Tim Colwell started things with a single on one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Adam Martin would follow posting a single moving Colwell to third. A sacrifice fly to center field by Luke Weber would score Colwell on the throw for the Rox lead.
Thunder Bay came back in the top of the third putting up two runs on a two-run home run by Cory Kay taking a 2-1 lead over St. Cloud.
Colwell would lead off for the Rox in the bottom of the fifth earning a walk on four pitches. He then attempted to steal second but ended up advancing all the way to third off a two-base error on the first baseman. Martin would hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Colwell and tying the game up 2-2.
In the top of the sixth the Border Cats would retake the lead over the Rox 3-2 off a two-out solo home run by Jason Vosler.
That was not going to stop the Rox as Daniel Comstock got the bats going with a lead off single in the bottom half of the sixth. Blake Headley and Eric Loxtercamp would follow with singles as they load the bases. After a pitching substitution by the Border Cats, Bradley Strong was putout at first scoring Comstock to tie the game up 3-3. Colwell would again show up big for the Rox posting a two-run single moving the Rox to a 5-3 lead.
St. Cloud extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh as Chris Paul led off getting walked on five pitches. Vincent Jackson was hit by a pitch taking first and was followed by Comstock hitting a two-run double for the Rox 7-3 lead over Thunder Bay.
The Rox would play tough defense holding the Border Cats to no hits the rest of the game sealing their fate in a 7-3 victory at home.
Lucas Long earned the starting spot on the mound for the Rox pitching seven innings and recording the win to move his record to 2-0 on the season. Coming in as relief was Jay Flaa, pitching two innings of work.
The St. Cloud Times Rox' Player of the Game is Tim Colwell. Colwell went 2-for-4 as well as recorded two RBIs and two runs. Colwell was the number two batter for the Rox and played center field.
The St. Cloud Rox (19-24, 5-3 Second Half) and the Thunder Bay Border Cats (15-28, 2-6 Second Half) will be back in action Friday night but the Rox will take to the road traveling to Thunder Bay, Ontario for a two game series.
