
Cats Double-Up T-Bones, 10-5

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones (16-24) suffered a 10-5 loss in the first game of a three-game series against the Fort Worth Cats (17-23) Friday night in front of 5,612 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The Fort Worth Cats took a 2-0 lead on a two-run single by Trent Lockwood off T.J. Large (3-5) in the first inning. Kansas City answered with solo home runs by Keanon Simon, Ray Sadler and Kala Ka'aihue off Tyler Seaman (1-3)in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-2 lead. Cory Morales tied the game at three with a solo homerun in the second inning.
Morales added two more runs in the fourth on a two-run double to give Fort Worth a 5-3 lead. After the T-Bones scored on a sacrifice fly by Jeff Hulett in the bottom of the fourth, Fort Worth plated three runs, two on a home run by John Allen, to gain an 8-4 advantage.
Large took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits over five innings. Seamen surrendered his final run in the fifth on an RBI double by Rico Washington. The Fort Worth right-hander was charged with five runs, four earned, on four hits through five innings in the victory.
Kyle Dahman surrendered one hit while striking out three over three scoreless innings in relief of Large. Martin Dewald allowed two unearned runs in the ninth inning to cap the score at 10-5.
After blasting three homeruns in the first inning, the T-Bones collected just one hit over the final eight frames.
Game two of the series is set for Saturday night as Matt Mitchell (0-1, 13.50) takes the mound for Kansas City against Derek Blacksher (2-4, 4.08) and the Cats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
