FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (22-19) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Sioux City Explorers (20-22) on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.

RedHawks starter, Jake Laber (6-1), won his fifth straight start at Newman Outdoor Field in front of the 3,486 fans in attendance. Laber was able get the RedHawks back on the winning path by keeping the Explorers to three runs over eight innings while piling up a season high eight strikeouts. The Explorers were able to put together ten hits against him but never scored more than one run in an inning against the league's ERA leader.

Ray Serrano put the Explorers on the board first with a solo home run in the fourth inning, but the RedHawks answered in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own. Nic Jackson started the inning with a walk and a stolen base. Jesse Hoorelbeke drove him in with a single and scored later in the inning on a double by Jason James.

The Explorers put scored again in the fifth as Ryan Priddy used his speed to get a triple on a hit to the left-center gap. Dustin Jones, the next batter, knocked him in with a single to left.

The RedHawks responded again, putting up three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-2 lead. Kent Sakamoto cut the lead to 5-3 with a solo home run in the eighth inning, but that would be the last of the scoring as Laber struck out the side to get out of the inning. Then, Casey Hoorelbeke shut the Explorers down in the ninth inning for his fourth save of the year.

Andrew Snowdon (0-4) was tagged with the loss after giving up the three runs (two earned) the RedHawks scored in the fifth inning.

The RedHawks will play the final game of their three-game series against the Sioux City Explorers on Sunday afternoon. Game time is 1:00 pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 701-235-6161, online at www.fmredhawks.com, or at the Ticket Office during business hours.
