Carr Drives into Chicago Wolves History Books

November 7, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Chicago Wolves News Release

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin - Left wing Daniel Carr tied a Chicago Wolves record with four goals and Brooks Macek handed out five assists to guide the Wolves to a 5-3 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals on Wednesday morning at Panther Arena.

Defenseman Erik Brannstrom broke a 3-3 tie with his third-period goal for the Wolves (8-3-0-1), who wrapped up their five-game road trip by pulling within two points of first-place Milwaukee (8-3-3-0) in the Central Division race.

Carr, who spent half of the last two seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, became the first American Hockey League player to score four goals in a game since Hershey's Travis Boyd on Feb. 16. He shares the Wolves record with Dan Currie (1995 and 1996), Nigel Dawes (2011) and Kenny Agostino (2016).

Macek, who entered the game as the AHL's co-leader in goals with 12, became the first player to post five assists since Tucson's Carter Camper on March 2. Macek fell one assist shy of the franchise record set by Rob Brown on March 24, 1996.

Defenseman Nic Hague added two assists for Chicago while goaltender Oscar Dansk (5-1-1) notched 34 saves in the win. Milwaukee's Troy Grosenick (3-2-0) stopped 20 shots.

Carr gave the Wolves a 2-0 lead after one period as he cleaned up a pair of Macek rebounds. The Admirals pulled even in the second period, but Carr regained a 3-2 lead at the 17:36 mark of the second when he went to his knees in the slot to outreach a Milwaukee defender and swat home a Curtis McKenzie pass.

Milwaukee knotted things again with Matt Donovan's power-play goal six minutes into the third, but Brannstrom authored a nifty redirect of a Jake Bischoff centering pass for a 4-3 lead at 7:13. Carr capped his record-tying performance when Macek threaded the needle with a pass that Carr one-timed just under the crossbar at 10:03 of the third.

The Wolves return to Allstate Arena on Saturday, Nov. 10, for an Illinois Lottery Cup clash with the Rockford IceHogs that kicks off Military Appreciation Weekend. To get the best tickets, visit ChicagoWolves.com or call 1-800-THE-WOLVES.
