Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Isotopes were able to split their four-game series with the Rainiers, defeating Tacoma this afternoon 4-3 at Isotopes Park. The win temporarily moves the Isotopes back into a first place tie with the Salk Lake Bees who will play a doubleheader later this evening with the Reno Aces.

The Rockies all-time wins leader, Jorge De La Rosa, made a start for the Isotopes today. The left-hander is with Albuquerque rehabbing his strained left groin. De La Rosa tossed 4.0 innings today, allowing one earned run on three hits, striking out three and walking three.

Matt Flemer (3-0, 3.86), who came on in relief of De La Rosa earned his third win of the season. The right-hander allowed just two hits and one earned run over his 4.0 innings on the hill.

Sam Moll came on in the ninth for the Isotopes, retiring the Rainiers in order in the ninth, and earning his second save of the year.

Rockies infielder Daniel Descalso was also rehabbing with the Isotopes today. The 29-year-old recorded a hit in his first at-bat and also drew a bases loaded walk, finishing the day 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Outfielder Brandon Barnes knocked in two runs for the Isotopes, singling to left field with the bases loaded in the second inning.

The ball game's winning run came in the eighth inning, when outfielder Stephen Cardullo lifted a sacrifice fly to give the Isotopes a 4-3 lead.

The Isotopes will now hit the road for a four-game series with the Salt Lake Bees (Triple-A Angels) before returning home on Saturday. Right-hander Jordan Lyles (1-1, 6.75) gets the start for Albuquerque tomorrow. He will be opposed by Salt Lake's Zach Nuding (1-2, 7.66). First pitch from Smith's Ballpark is set for 6:35 p.m.
