Iowa Cubs News Release

Des Moines, IA - RHP Spencer Patton was activated by the Iowa Cubs today, after he was optioned by Chicago prior to Sunday's Cubs game.

Patton was recalled by Chicago on May 5 to take the place of RHP Neil Ramirez, who was placed on the bereavement list. In his four-day stint with the Cubs, Patton appeared in one game against the Nationals on May 7. He exited without recording an out after allowing one run off one hit and one walk.

Patton is yet to allow an earned run for Iowa this season. In 10.0 innings pitched, the righty has whiffed 17, walked four and given up four hits, while converting all four save opportunities.

Scott Barnes returned to the disabled list, making room on the I-Cubs' roster for Patton.
