DAYTON, OH- The West Michigan Whitecaps connected for three home runs for the second straight game as they outlasted the Dayton Dragons, 9-7, at Fifth Third Field on Friday night. The ‘Caps win the series, three-games-to-one, and they salvage the back half of their eight-game road trip.

Billy Nowlin's fielder's choice in the first helped the ‘Caps grab an early 1-0 lead. The Dragons took the lead in the second when Kevyn Feiner doubled with two outs and the bases loaded. His hit pushed Dayton ahead, 3-1.

Nowlin again produced a run in the third on an RBI groundout as Ronnie Bourquin scored after doubling, bringing the Whitecaps within a run, 3-2.

In the fourth, the Whitecaps put up five runs. Joe Bowen started the scoring with an RBI single that plated Jordan Lennerton to tie the game. A sacrifice fly by Gustavo Nunez gave the Whitecaps the lead, and Ronnie Bourquin blasted a three-run home run for a 7-3 Whitecaps' edge.

West Michigan found more power in the fifth when Jordan Lennerton launched his 9th home run of the year, a solo shot, to left. The Dragons put two more runs on the board on Byron Wiley's two-run home run to right to make the score, 8-5.

Gustavo Nunez ripped a home run to left leading off the sixth to put the ‘Caps ahead, 9-5.

Dayton tacked on a run when Tony Brown doubled to right to plate Humberto Sanchez for a 9-6 ‘Caps advantage.

Tyler Conn pitched well in relief. Conn went 4.2 innings for the win allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts.

Ronnie Bourquin, back with the ‘Caps after a stint with Double A Erie, finished 3-4 with 3 RBI. Gustavo Nunez, Jordan Lennerton, Alden Carrithers, and Avisail Garcia had 2 hits each.

The Whitecaps return to Fifth Third Ballpark Saturday night to start a four-game series with the South Bend Silver Hawks. Game one is set for 7:00 p.m ET.
