SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Wade Miley allowed one run through five innings while striking out six, and the South Bend Silver Hawks (23-24; 50-65) defeated the Lansing Lugnuts (18-29; 44-72), 7-2, on Friday night at Coveleski Stadium.

After dropping the first two games of the series, South Bend won the final two contests to earn a series split with Lansing and clinch the victory in the season series.

Reynaldo Navarro and Rossmel Perez each collected three of the Silver Hawks' 15 base hits, helping the Hawks' balanced offense tally in the first, second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings against Lansing starter Chad Beck and reliever Jonas Cuotto.

A member of the Silver Hawks in 2007 and 2008, Beck (5-7) allowed five runs on 11 hits in six innings in his first appearance against his former team.

He was outdueled by Miley (5-8), who scattered seven Lugnuts singles in pitching to the maximum amount of innings allowed to him by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In defeat, Justin McClanahan slugged his 12th home run of the season for Lansing.

The Lugnuts open a four-game homestand at Oldsmobile Park at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, starting right-hander Chris Holguin (1-2, 5.12) against Great Lakes right-hander Bobby Blevins (8-8, 3.89).
