
Capitals Re-Assign Latta, Stoa and Wellman to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned centers Michael Latta, Ryan Stoa and Casey Wellman to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Latta, 22, registered four points (one goal, three assists) and 12 penalty minutes in 17 games with Washington this season. The Kitchener, Ont., native made his NHL debut on Oct. 1 at Chicago, earned his first NHL point with an assist on Nov. 2 against Florida and scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 15 at Detroit. Latta has played 29 games with the Bears this season, collecting 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists) and 99 penalty minutes. The 6'0", 212-pound center ranks fourth among Bears skaters in assists (17) this season and recorded two assists against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday. In 160 career AHL games with Milwaukee and Hershey, Latta has registered 90 points (31 goals, 59 assists) and 399 penalty minutes.
Stoa, 26, recorded seven points (four goals, three assist) and 20 penalty minutes in 37 career NHL games with Colorado. The Bloomington, Minn., native has skated in 45 games with Hershey this season, registering 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) and 45 penalty minutes. Stoa ranks third among Hershey skaters in assists and points this season. The 6'4", 224-pound center has registered 157 points (76 goals, 81 assists) and 250 penalty minutes in 268 career AHL games with Lake Erie and Hershey.
Wellman, 26, registered three points (two goals, one assists) in nine games with the Capitals this season. The Brentwood, Calif., native made his Washington debut on Dec. 17 at Philadelphia and scored his first Capitals goal on Jan. 25 at Montreal. In 50 career NHL games with Minnesota and Washington, Wellman earned 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) and four penalty minutes. Wellman has appeared in 41 games with Hershey this season, registering 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists) and eight penalty minutes. The 6'0", 183-pound center ranks third among Bears skaters in goals (13) and fifth on the team in points (26) this season. In 210 career AHL games with Houston, Connecticut, San Antonio and Hershey, Wellman has recorded 161 points (66 goals, 95 assists) and 71 penalty minutes.
