Binghamton Senators News Release
MONTREAL, QC - Binghamton defeat the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-1 in the Bell Centre in Montreal tonight. Andrew Hammond played stellar between the pipes for the Senators all night stopping 31 of 32 shots faced en route to his 17th victory of the season. Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Andre Petersson led Binghamton offensively with a goal and an assist each.
First period action was a goaltender highlight reel as both Hammond and Bulldogs netminder Dustin Tokarski managed to stop all shots faced sending the teams to the locker room scoreless after 20 minutes of play. Hammond turned aside all 11 Bulldogs shots while Tokarski was perfect on the eight Binghamton shots sent his way.
Nick Tarnasky broke the scoreless tie 4:18 into the second period on an unassisted goal following a mishandled puck in the Binghamton zone. Binghamton evened the score at the 15 minute mark of the middle frame when Pageau scored his ninth goal of the year. With Petersson carrying a majority of the Hamilton defense with him, he fed the puck to a wide open Pageau who buried it past Tokarski. Just 43 seconds later Binghamton grabbed its first lead of the game when Buddy Robinson turned a feed from Shane Prince past Tokarski making it 2-1 B-Sens. Hammond corralled all 11 shots faced during the period to keep the Sens up 2-1 heading into the third.
Binghamton added a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes to earn the hard-fought victory. Petersson notched his 17th of the year at 12:29 before Mike Hoffman added an empty-netter with just less than two minutes remaining to move the final score to 4-1.
Tokarski finished with 18 saves on 21 shots faced in the losing effort. Both Binghamton and Hamilton finished 0 for 3 on the man advantage.
The B-Sens return to home ice tomorrow for a 7:05p.m. matchup versus the Utica Comets.
