Canes Lose Final Preseason Game

Lethbridge, AB - Despite a pair of goals from second year forward Cam Braes, the Lethbridge Hurricanes suffered a 6-3 loss to the Kootenay Ice at the ENMAX Centre on Saturday night. Carter Ashton also tallied for the Canes while Lucas Alexiuk had a pair of assists. Lethbridge goaltender Juha Metsola tallied 26 saves in the loss while Kootenay goaltenders Thomas Heemskerk and Nathan Lieuwen combined for 27 saves on the night. Jesse Ismond (2), Michael Stickland, Michael Cassivi, Kris Foucault and Dominik Pacovsky each tallied for the Ice.

Though the Canes walked away with a loss the real winners on the night were the United Way of Lethbridge and South Western Alberta. The Hurricanes as well as the Lethbridge United Way would like to thank the over 2700 in attendance for this charity event. The Canes would also like to thank all of the season ticket holders who attended the annual Hurricanes "Meet the players" breakfast on Saturday Morning. Fans had the opportunity to pick up their season tickets, meet the players and enjoy a breakfast courtesy of Sobeys and hosted by the Hurricanes Board of Directors.

The "Boys in Blue" will be back on the ice this Friday (September 19th) to take on the Kootenay Ice in the Dairy Queen Home Opener. Purchase two basket meals from any Lethbridge Dairy Queen location and you will receive two free tickets to the game. Quantities are limited so act fast. Be sure to be there as the Canes welcome in the 2008-2009 season with the raising of their 2008 Eastern Conference Championship banner.
