Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades welcome the Regina Pats in the 2nd half of a home and home series this weekend tonight at Credit Union Centre. Puck drop goes at 7:00pm.

Tonight's game will be the Blades 6th and final pre-season matchup with the team showing a 2-3-0-0 record.

BLADES NEWS & NOTES

- Gone Camping - The Saskatoon Blades have 5 players participating in NHL Training Camps this fall and thus will be without the services of goaltender Brandon Holtby (Washington Capitals), forward Milan Kytnar (Edmonton Oilers), defenseman Teigan Zahn (Chicago Blackhawks), defenseman Jyri Niemi (New York Islanders), and forward Colton Gillies (Minnesota Wild).

- Returning to the line-up tonight for the Blades will be defenseman Colin Joe and Charles Inglis. Both Inglis and Joe were suspended for one game by the Western Hockey League after last Sunday's altercations in the Blades home game against the Prince Albert Raiders. Inglis and Joe were both given major penalties in the final 5 minutes of an exhibition game, warranting their one game sit downs.

- The Saskatoon Blades, in partnership with Marlin Travel, are proud to announce that 1 lucky fan will win a trip for 2 to Las Vegas on Friday, September 19th home opener! One lucky fan will be awarded with a complete trip for 2, including direct flights from Saskatoon, accommodations for 3 nights, in addition to cash for meals and entertainment. All fans in attendance at the home opener will be eligible and no purchase other than your ticket price is necessary. The game will also renew a classic rivalry as the Blades host the Prince Albert Raiders for the first of a weekend home and home series. Walkup tickets for the 2008/09 home opener are available now via ticketmaster.ca or by calling 938-7800

- Mr. 300 - Lorne Molleken quietly reached a coaching milestone last season when the Blades defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors on March 8th. The victory marked Lorne's 300th win behind the bench for the Saskatoon Blades. Lorne now has collected 371 coaching victories in the WHL with 3 teams (Saskatoon, Regina, and Moose Jaw). With 5 more wins, Molleken will move into the top 10 list of all time winningest coaches.
