Vancouver Giants News Release

Vancouver BC - The Vancouver Giants have traded defenseman Stefan Schneider to the Portland Winter Hawks for future considerations. Schneider, a native of Vernon BC, appeared in 36 games last year for the Giants, registering four assists and 36 penalty minutes.

"This move to Portland will allow Stefan to get some quality playing time," comments Giants GM Scott Bonner. "With our club having two twenty year old and two nineteen year defenseman, plus adding Curtis Kulchar via trade yesterday, Stefan was going to be in a difficult situation to get ice time. We wish him all the best with Portland."

The Giants have also traded C/RW Jonathan Parker to the Seattle Thunderbirds for future considerations. Parker, a resident of Solana Beach, CA., played for the LA Junior Kings last season, posting 40 goals and 45 assists for 85 points in 60 games. "With the emergence of our 16 year old players in the preseason, Jonathan would have a difficult time cracking our lineup," remarks Bonner. "We wish Jonathan success in Seattle."

Giants forward Lane Scheidl has been reassigned to the Saskatoon Blazers.
