Canadiens Recall Andreas Engqvist from Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QC - The Montreal Canadiens announced this afternoon that forward Andreas Engqvist has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Engqvist was previously recalled to the Montreal Canadiens on January 24th, 2012 and returned to the Bulldogs on January 26th, 2012. In nine games with the Canadiens this season, Engqvist, 24, recorded four blocked shots and seven hits, while averaging 6:51 of ice time per game.

The Stockholm, Sweden native has played 29 games with the Hamilton Bulldogs this season, scoring 13 goals and adding 11 assists for a total of 24 points. The six-foot-one, 201-pound centre has a team-leading +7 plus/minus rating, registering 69 shots on goal. Five of his goals were scored on the power play.

Engqvist signed with the Canadiens as a free agent on July 13, 2009.

The Bulldogs' will return to the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd, 2012 when they visit the Grand Rapid Griffins for the first of two back-to-back away games at Van Andel Arena.
