Peoria Rivermen goaltender Ben Bishop was named AHL All-Star Classic MVP after stopping 10 of 11 shots in the third period and leading the Western Conference to an 8-7 shootout victory at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. on Monday night. Rivermen center T.J. Hensick notched a goal and an assist while rookie defenseman Cade Fairchild registered an assist.

Bishop entered the game to start the third period in goal with the Western Conference trailing 6-5. Cory Conacher (Norfolk) improved the lead to 7-5 before Hensick and Kevin Connauton (Chicago) goals tied the game 7-7 to force a shootout.

Hensick scored on the first shootout attempt for the Western Conference while Bishop stopped all four Eastern Conference shots en route to the win. It was Bishop's first career appearance in the AHL All-Star Classic.

The 6'7" goaltender was also named Reebok Top Goaltender after he stopped 16 of 19 shots for the Western Conference in Sunday's Skills Competition.

Bishop was a late addition to the All-Star team last week after Cedrick Desjardins (Lake Erie) suffered an injury. Bishop currently leads the league with six shutouts and 18 wins. He was also named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15 after he stopped 70 of 71 shots in one weekend to win both of his starts.
