Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club hits the All-Star break sitting one point out of first place in the East Division. The BEARS earned a split in their weekend two-game set in Virginia against the Norfolk Admirals, first falling by a 2-1 score on Friday night. HERSHEY's lone goal came from Jacob Micflikier, who pounced on a Norfolk turnover in the third period. Braden Holtby turned in an impressive performance with a season-high 44 saves on 46 shots. The top two offenses in the league combined for just three goals, and were 0-for-15 on power plays. In the Saturday rematch, Ryan Potulny put the BEARS ahead twice in the game with two power-play goals, but Cory Conacher assisted on one and scored another to set up a 2-2 tie for the start of the third period. Another Admirals turnover resulted in Christian Hanson tipping home Matt Ford's slap shot early in the final frame, a goal that would stand up as the winner with Holtby stopping all 17 third-period shots (and 38 of 40 overall) to help the BEARS to a 3-2 victory. The BEARS will play at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday night, and then return home to host the Connecticut Whale on Saturday and the Penguins on Super Bowl Sunday in a special 2:00 PM faceoff.

All-Stars Ready to Roll:

Eastern Conference captain Boyd Kane, along with teammates Keith Aucoin and Chris Bourque, will try to help the Eastern Conference Squad to a split in tonight's All-Star Classic at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.

Braden at his Best

G Braden Holtby made 82 saves on 86 shots (.953 save %) in his back-to-back starts in Norfolk this weekend. Saturday's start was the 95th of his three-year AHL career.

Climbing Higher in History:

C Keith Aucoin now has 255 helpers in his BEARS career, pushing him past AHL Hall of Famer Mitch Lamoureux into ninth place in HERSHEY history. Aucoin is one shy of fifth place in AHL career assists (554), a spot held by Art Stratton (555).

Potulny Pots a Pair:

C Ryan Potulny recorded his third two-goal game in his last seven on Saturday, and sixth multiple-goal game of the season.

UnstoPPable:

The BEARS' power play unit now holds an overall success rate of 29.6% (60/203). The BEARS' total of 60 power play goals is just six shy of last season's overall total. The team record for power play goals in a season is 106 (1987-88, 1997-98).
