Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Catcher Griff Erickson was activated from the seven-day disabled list this afternoon, April 10, and catcher John Cannon was placed on the disabled list with a right ankle sprain.
Erickson will be seeing his first action with the Isotopes but previously appeared in twogames with the then-Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate, Las Vegas, in 2007 and 2008. The 26-year-old backstop split time between the Rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers and Double-A Chattanooga during the 2013 campaign, hitting a combined 10 home runs and driving in 21 runs in 67 games. He also gunned down 17 of 50 (34 percent) would-be base stealers.
Cannon joined the Isotopes Tuesday, April 8, but did not see any game action. He spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons between the Rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers and the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, hitting a combined .239 with one home run, one triple, four doubles and 11 RBIs. The 23-year-old Houston, Texas, native was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 29th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Houston.
The Isotopes wrap up their season-opening eight-game road trip tonight against the Reno Aces. The series finale is slated for a 7:35 p.m. MT first pitch and Josh Suchon will have the call on 610 The Sports Animal. Albuquerque returns to Isotopes Park tomorrow, Friday, April 11, for their home opener against the Tacoma Rainiers at 7:05p.m. MT.
