Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY (April 9, 2014) - The Los Angeles Angels announced today that the club has recalled outfielder J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Salt Lake. Shuck will take the place of Josh Hamilton on the Angels roster. Hamilton has been placed on the 15-day D.L. after tearing his ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb sliding head-first into first base in the 7th inning against Seattle on April 8. He is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

Shuck, 26, has appeared in five games for the Bees in 2014 posting a .375 batting average with one double, two triples and a home run in 24 at-bats. Shuck spent all of 2013 with the Angels hitting .293 and leading American League rookies in games played, at-bats and runs scored. He was recipient of the 2013 MLBPAA Angels Heart and Hustle Award and finished fifth in 2013 AL Rookie of the Year voting.

The Salt Lake Bees finish their opening homestand with Ugly Sweater Night on Thursday night before embarking on an eight-game road trip, their first of the season. The team returns home on April 18 with a four-game series against the Albuquerque Isotopes. Tickets for all Bees games are available at the Smith's Ballpark box office, SmithsTix or at slbees.com.
