Reno Aces News Release
Reno, Nev.- It was all Aces Wednesday night as Reno used a six-run first inning to cruise to an easy 9-2 win at Aces Ballpark.
The Aces were eight batters in before an out was recorded in the bottom of the first. Ender Inciarte started with a walk and quickly moved to third on DiDi Gregorius' double. Both scored on a two-run single by Alfredo Marte.
It didn't stop there as Mike Jacobs singled, then Andy Marte followed with a two-run double. In all, the Aces sent ten to the plate and scored six runs on six hits in the big inning.
With the early offense, right-hander Mike Bolsinger went to work and put zeroes on the board in the first three frames for Albuquerque. A two-run homer from Miguel Olivo trimmed the deficit to 6-2 in the fourth but the Aces answered with single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings.
Bolsinger went on to toss six innings and improved to 2-0 with the win. Eury De La Rosa and Derek Eitel combined for the final three innings to close out the win.
Gregorius led the way offensively going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Gregorius now owns a five-game hitting streak while teammate Mike Jacobs ran his streak to six games with a 3-for-5 game as well.
In all, the Aces came up with a season-high 16 hits and are a game within .500 at 3-4. Inciarte, Marte, Kieschnick and Blake Lalli also had multi-hit games.
The series wraps Thursday for the two teams as Reno sends right-hander Charles Brewer (0-1, 1.80) to the mound against Albuquerque right-hander Matt Magill (0-0, 2.25). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
