Bulls Drop Pitcher's Duel to Tides, 1-0
July 6, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - A one-run deficit proved too much to overcome for the Durham Bulls as they fell 1-0 in the opener of a three-game series against the Norfolk Tides Friday night at the DBAP.
Cedric Mullins launched a solo home run leading off the first inning, and that proved to be the only run needed as the Tides held the Bulls scoreless on four hits in the series opener.
Forrest Snow (L, 5-5) was saddled with the loss following a quality start. He allowed one run on three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts over 7.0 innings. Snow has surrendered nine earned runs over his last 36.1 innings, posting a 2.23 ERA during that time.
Asher Wojciechowski (W, 5-4) earned his fifth win of the season and second winning decision in his last three starts, recording a career-high 12 strikeouts over 7.0 innings. Donnie Hart tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Jhan Marinez (S, 11) closed out his 11th save of the season, as the trio combined to strike out 17 total Bulls for the game.
The Bulls managed just five hits as they suffered just their third loss over their last 11 games played, marking the first they've been shut out since they fell 1-0 to Charlotte on June 13.
The Bulls (50-36) host the Tides (45-40) in the middle frame of this three-game series Saturday evening at the DBAP. Zach Lee (2-1, 2.21) is scheduled to start for the Bulls against John Means (3-1, 3.70) for the Tides. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
