
Knights Fall to Stripers 12-0 Friday

(LAWRENCEVILLE, GA) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped the opening game of their three-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 12-0 on Friday from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA.
Offensively for the Knights, center fielder Jacob May led the way with two hits and his team-high 14th stolen base of the season. For his career with the Knights, May now has 64 stolen bases, which is good for third all-time in franchise history. May, who went 2-for-4 on Friday, currently ranks fourth in the International League this season in steals. First baseman Casey Gillaspie chipped in with two doubles. The Knights as a team tallied a total of eight hits.
RHP Carson Fulmer (3-5, 5.80) started for the Knights and gave up five runs on 10 hits over five innings. He was charged with the loss. RHP Ricardo Pinto came on in relief of Fulmer and allowed five more runs over 0.2 innings pitched. LHP Aaron Bummer did not allow a run over 1.1 innings pitched. Infielder Jake Elmore pitched the eighth inning for the Knights and allowed a two-run home run to first baseman Carlos Franco.
RHP Wes Parsons (4-2, 2.98) earned the win for the Stripers. He tossed seven shutout innings.
The Knights will continue their three-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) on Saturday from Coolray Field. Pre-game radio coverage of Saturday's 7:05 p.m. game is set for 6:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action.
