June 13, 2013 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Bullfrogs avoided a sweep and extension of a two game losing streak in the second game of a two game set against the Express.
Matt Esparza (Tennessee) made his third start of the season and started his night out rolling through the Express with ease. A three up, three down first inning set up the active bats of the Bullfrogs at Joannes Stadium.
Three Express errors in the first inning, two by TJ Larson (Minnesota State), led to a single by Robert Youngdahl (Notre Dame) to score lead-off man Jimmy Coady (UW-Stevens Point).
Another Bullfrog run scored off of a double from Jack Parenty (Stony Brook) in the bottom of the second scoring Trevin Sonnier (Dallas Baptist) for a 2-0 Bullfrogs lead.
Green Bay came back in the third to score two more runs, bringing around Tripp Martin (Samford) and Boomer White (TCU) to extend the lead to 4-0.
Esparza continued his dominance with a 5-0 lead going in to the sixth inning, but was unable to continue his efficiency and allowed the Express to get back in to the game. Two errors and a walk would lead to the first Express run of the inning. Later, a two-run home run from Chane Lynch (Dallas Baptist) brought the game to a 5-3 lead for Green Bay.
A pitching change brought Jonathon Tripp in to try to stop the Express, but two more runs wcame around in the top of the sixth to tie the game up at five.
Jose Godinez (St. Norbert) didn't allow the game to stay tied at five for long. Godinez drove in Coady for a 6-5 lead over the Express.
Ben Graff (San Fransisco) came in to pitch a scoreless eighth for Green Bay setting up the save for Will Landsheft (Drury University). Landsheft came in to strike out two batters and finish off the game earning his first save of 2013 with the Bullfrogs for a 6-5 win over Eau Claire.
The win went to Jonathon Tripp (Texas Tech) and the loss to Lance Thonvold (Minnesota).
Green Bay finishes its three game home stand against the Mallards Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
