Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release

It was a great day for the hitters and not so much for the pitchers Thursday at Subway Field as the St. Cloud Rox rocked the Border Cats 24-12. The game was played before a season high crowd of 1,864 fans as the Cats hosted their second and final school day game of the season. The Rox scored their 24 runs on 29 hits, both single game records in the 11-year history of the Border Cats franchise. The teams combined for 36 runs, 39 hits and seven errors. The Rox jumped out to a big lead by exploding for six runs in their first at-bat. St. Cloud scored in every inning, except for the top of the 5th.

Clint Knoblauch (Florida Gulf Coast University) took the loss to fall to 0-2. Knoblauch, who was the victim of many soft hits and shoddy defensive play, pitched two innings and allowed 11 hits and eight earned runs.

Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) led Thunder Bay at the plate, going 3-4, including a two-run homer, his second of the season. Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) continued his red-hot hitting as he went 2-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Vosler is now batting .382. Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) had two hits in four at-bats with a pair of runs batted in and one run scored.

The Cats (7-9), open a four game road trip Friday night in Rochester against the Honkers at 8:05pm ET. Righthander John Hayes (Murray State College) will make his first start of the season for Thunder Bay in the opener of the two-game set at Mayo Field.
