Lakeshore Chinooks News Release
On a night where most of Southeastern Wisconsin got doused with rain, the skies cleared up just in time for the Lakeshore Chinooks to hit the road and unleashed an offensive barrage on the home standing Wisconsin Woodchucks in an 11-4 win Wednesday evening from Athletic Park in Wausau.
Five players collected multi-hit games as the team pounded out a season-high 14 hits en route to the victory. Ryan Krill (Michigan State University) led the team with four hits and also scored three runs in the win.
The Chinooks got on the board first in the second inning on an RBI single from Mikel Mucha (Wichita State). Travis Enger (St. Cloud State) followed with an RBI sac bunt scoring Ryan Solberg (University of Wisconsin Milwaukee) to make the score 2-0 heading to the home half of the second.
The Woodchucks got a run back in their half of the inning and added three more in the third to take a 4-2 lead. The Chinooks climbed closer on another RBI single from Enger in the fourth to make it 4-3 home team.
In the fifth, the offense exploded, sending eight men to the plate as part of a three-run inning to retake the lead 6-4. After a bagel in the sixth, the offense sent seven more men to the plate in the seventh scoring three times thanks in part to the second Woodchuck error of the game and an RBI double by Mucha.
Holding and 9-4 lead going into the ninth, the Chinooks poured on. Another error allowed leadoff man Jerrick Suiter (TCU) to reach. He came around to score on an RBI single from Solberg to make it 10-4. Two batters later, Enger put the icing on the cake with his fourth RBI of the night.
Kyle Bouman (Jefferson College) was strong on amount for a third consecutive start, surrendering four runs (three earned) on three hits over seven innings. The four runs were the first runs allowed by Bouman all season covering 21 innings of work.
Tim Faix (Kent State University) and Suiter came out of the bullpen to close out the victory holding Wisconsin out of the hit column. Suiter struck out all three men he faced.
Both teams are back at it tomorrow for a 6:35 start from Athletic Park before the Chinooks return home on Friday to entertain the Battle Creek Bombers at 7:05.
