Bulldogs to play next seven on the road

The Hamilton Bulldogs enter this week's action leading the AHL's Western Conference and North Division with 51 points.

The Bulldogs will begin a stretch of seven consecutive road games on Saturday, January 17th (7:00 p.m.) when they travel to Albany for their first meeting of the season versus the River Rats. Hamilton's next home game will take place on February 4th when they host the Rochester Americans at Copps Coliseum. Here's the Bulldogs' schedule for the next seven games:

MICHAUD'S FIRST AHL WIN A SHUTOUT:

Rookie goaltender Olivier Michaud earned his first AHL win and shutout when he stopped all 25 shots in a 6-0 win over the Manitoba Moose at Copps Coliseum on Saturday. Michaud has started the past three games for the Bulldogs, earning a 2.32 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. The native of Beloeil, Quebec was recalled from Columbus of the ECHL on December 29th.

BALEJ CLIMBING IN AHL SCORING RACE:

Jozef Balej currently leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 43 points (23-20-43) in 43 games played. Balej is third in the AHL scoring race and is just three points behind Manchester's Pavel Rosa (17-29-46) for the AHL scoring lead. Miroslav Zalesak of the Cleveland Barons is in second place with 45 points (21-14-45)

PEREZHOGIN HEATING UP:

Bulldogs rookie forward Alexander Perezhogin has been the Bulldogs second leading scorer in the month of January with 6 points (3-3-6) in five games. Perezhogin earned his fifth multi-point game of the season in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Manitoba Moose, as he connected for a goal and an assist.

GRATTON, BALEJ, PLEKANEC, AND KOMISAREK CHOSEN AHL ALL-STARS:

The American Hockey League announced last week that four players from the Hamilton Bulldogs have been chosen to participate in the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic to be held February 8th and 9th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bulldogs captain and forward Benoit Gratton was voted as a starter for the Canadian All-Star Team, while Hamilton's leading scorer Jozef Balej was voted a starting forward for the PlanetUSA All-Star Team. Also selected to the PlanetUSA team from the Bulldogs were forward Tomas Plekanec and defenceman Mike Komisarek. Currently Gratton, Plekanec and Komisarek are all with the Bulldogs' parent club, the Montreal Canadiens.

BULLDOGS NEXT HOME ACTION FEBRUARY 4TH:

The Hamilton Bulldogs next home game will take place on Wednesday, February 4th when the Rochester Americans visit Copps Coliseum. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at the Copps Coliseum Box Office, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling Ticketmaster at (905) 527-7666.

Bulldogs play-by-play announcer Derek Wills will join Joe Cahill. The weekly show will feature Bulldogs interviews, highlights from the past week and much more.
