Aquino Returns to Gwinnett

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned right wing Anthony Aquino (ah-KEE-noh) to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL from the Chicago Wolves.

Aquino, who did not dress in Chicago¹s 3-2 victory against the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks after being recalled yesterday, shares first on the Gladiators with 13 goals and ranks fourth on the club with 26 points in 27 games. Aquino is tied for the team-lead with four power-play goals and two short-handed markers this season.

The Mississauga, Ontario, native made his professional debut last year with the Wolves on March 21 against the Rochester Americans, and finished with four penalty minutes in five regular-season games. Aquino concluded his amateur career last season with 10 goals and 19 points in 14 games with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.

The 21-year-old forward was acquired by Atlanta from the Dallas Stars on March 11,2003, in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft and future considerations. Aquino was selected by Dallas with its third pick, 92nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
