
Bulldogs set to host three contests this week including the 'Smiles on Ice' game this Friday

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will host three tilts at Copps Coliseum this week, including the 12th Annual TD Canada Trust 'Smiles on Ice' game. Hamilton will open the week against the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23rd, before taking on the Quad City Flames (AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames) on Friday, January 25th at 7:30 p.m. in the 12th annual TD Canada Trust 'Smiles on Ice' game. The Bulldogs round out their weekly schedule on the following night (Saturday, January 26th) at 7:00 p.m. with a tilt against their North Division rivals the Syracuse Crunch (AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets).
Last week, the 'Dogs posted a 2-1-0-0 record in three games versus Western Conference opponents. Hamilton suffered a 7-2 loss at home to the Peoria Rivermen on Tuesday, January 15th, before heading to Texas to take on two teams from the West Division: the San Antonio Rampage and the Houston Aeros. On Friday, January 18th at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, the Bulldogs dropped the Rampage by a score of 5-2. Then on Sunday, January 20th, the 'Dogs took down the Aeros 2-1 at the Toyota Center in Houston.
TD CANADA TRUST 'SMILES ON ICE':
The Hamilton Bulldogs, in conjunction with TD Canada Trust and McMaster Children's Hospital, will host the 12th Annual TD Canada Trust 'Smiles on Ice' game on Friday, January 25th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. when the Bulldogs host the Quad City Flames at Copps Coliseum.
This year's patient ambassador for the game is six-year-old Kate Adams, while Captain Ajay Baines is the Hamilton Bulldogs ambassador. Proceeds from the game will go to 'Smiles on Ice' in support of McMaster Children's Hospital.
2008 AHL ALL-STAR CLASSIC PRESENTED BY REEBOK:
The 2008 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Reebok will be held on January 27th-28th in Binghamton, New York, home of the Binghamton Senators. Binghamton and Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena will provide a unique stage for the best young hockey players in the world and a terrific setting for guests from across North America.

BULLDOGS NOTES:
- C Corey Locke, who was named to the AHL's Canadian all-star team last week as a replacement player, had his seven-game point streak (Jan. 4-18) snapped yesterday in Hamilton's 2-1 win in Houston. He had seven goals and five assists in that span. Locke now needs only two goals to overtake Brian Swanson and Tomas Plekanec (71 goals) and two assists to surpass Peter Sarno (123 assists) and become Hamilton's all-time leader in goals and assists
- RW Jonathan Ferland registered his 50th career assist and 100th AHL point on Jan. 18 at SAN (5-2 W). Ferland also scored the game-winning goal on Jan. 20 at HOU (2-1 W)
- RW Matt D'Agostini had his career-high nine-game point streak (Jan. 2-18) snapped yesterday in the Bulldogs 2-1 win over the Aeros. D'Agostini had six goals and five assists in that span
- D Pavel Valentenko recorded back-to-back multi-point games on the 'Dogs two-game road trip to Texas. Valentenko had two assists on Jan. 18 at SAN (5-2 W) and another two helpers on Jan. 20 at HOU (2-1 W)
- CHANGING NUMBERS: Bulldogs forwards LW Greg Stewart and C Ryan Russell will be changing their jersey numbers. Effective immediately, Stewart, who previously wore #76, will now dawn #16, and Russell, who was previously #16, will now wear #20

There are over 60 former Bulldogs who have graduated to the National Hockey League. Over 60 percent of all former 'Dogs have played in at least one NHL game. Here are a few highlights and accomplishments of ex-'Dogs from this past week:
- Montreal C Tomas Plekanec registered three points last week, tallying two goals, including the game winner at the New York Islanders (Jan. 15) and adding an assist in a 3-2 win at Atlanta (Jan. 17)
- Edmonton C Shawn Horcoff registered six points last week, setting up one goal against Los Angeles (Jan. 15), recording two goals and one assist at Washington (Jan. 17), and adding two helpers at Atlanta (Jan. 20)
- Columbus LW Jason Chimera recorded two points this past week, picking up the game-winning goal against Vancouver (Jan. 15), while tallying an assist in a 3-1 loss at Dallas (Jan. 19)
- Detroit RW Dan Cleary recorded five points last week, with two goals coming in a 3-2 win versus Vancouver (Jan. 17), and a goal and two assists in a 6-3 victory at San Jose (Jan. 19)
- Dallas C Mike Ribeiro picked up four points in the last seven days, all assists, including one helper at San Jose (Jan. 17), one assist versus Columbus (Jan. 19) and adding two more helpers in a 5-2 victory over Anaheim (Jan. 20)
- Boston G Tim Thomas registered two victories this past week, both coming against the New York Rangers, 4-3 (Jan. 19), and 3-1 (Jan. 20)
- Edmonton G Mathieu Garon started all three games last week for Edmonton and was victorious in all three, shutting out the New York Islanders 4-0 (Jan. 7), beating Phoenix 5-2 (Jan. 10) and winning 2-1 versus Calgary (Jan. 13)
