Stars Double Up Amerks

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans were handed their fifth straight loss tonight, being outshined by the Iowa Stars 4-2 at Wells Fargo Arena. With the loss, Rochester now falls to 12-29-2-3 on the season and has now dropped 21 of its last 23 contests.

Bryce Lampman, Janos Vas and Toby Petersen each collected two points in the win to earn first, second and third star honors, respectively. Tobias Stephan made 14 saves in net for Iowa to improve to 14-14-2 on the season.

Drew Larman and Rob Globke provided Rochester's pair of goals, while rookie netminder Tyler Plante made 19 saves in the loss to fall to 2-8-0.

Petersen gave Iowa a 1-0 lead as he broke the scoreless contest 6:21 into the second frame to register his 17th goal of the season and extend his point lead to 38. Tommy Wandell and Konstantin Pushkarev each tallied assists on the play.

The Stars took a 2-0 lead 2:14 into the final stanza as Richard Clune found the back of the net for his goal of the season. Lampman and Chris Conner were each credited with helpers on the goal.

Rochester responded exactly three minutes later to cut the Stars' lead in half with Globke's sixth of the season. Defenseman Mike Funk received the lone assist on the Amerks' first goal of the evening.

Marius Holtet and Lampman would round out the scoring for Iowa, scoring back-to-back goals to secure the victory.

Larman notched his fourth goal in the closing ticks of the period to cap the scoring for Rochester. Jordan Henry recorded his first point as an Amerk earning an assist on the play.

Rochester returns home to welcome the first ever visit from the Quad City Flames to The Blue Cross Arena on Wednesday, January 23rd. The 7:05 p.m. contest can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will be the second meeting in four nights and the final on the season between the two clubs. The game falls on clevermethod Business Persons' Special Night. Fans can turn in their business cards at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office and receive a $21.00 ticket for just $10.00.
