Amerks Close Out Road Trip Tonight In Iowa

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans will close out their current four-game road trip tonight as they visit Wells Fargo Arena to battle the Iowa Stars in a non-divisional matchup. Faceoff for the first of two meetings this season is set for 6:05 p.m. EST. The rare Monday evening contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks.

Tonight's contest marks the second in as many nights for the Amerks who look to ring in their first win of the road trip. Iowa (19-22-2-2, 42 points) currently holds a last place standing in the AHL's West Division, while Rochester (12-28-2-3, 29 points) remains at the bottom of the North Division and the Western Conference. The Amerks own a perfect 4-0-0 record against the Stars.

Rochester enters tonight's game after dropping a 4-2 decision last night to the American Hockey League expansion Quad City Flames in the first ever meeting between the two teams. Flames' forward Grant Stevenson scored all four goals, including a natural hat trick, to hand Rochester its fourth straight loss and the 20th in the last 22 games. The Amerks have now gone 1-7-1-1 in their last 10 and own the worst winning percentage in the league.

Mark Mancari continues to be the points leader for the Amerks with 34 (13+21). The third-year right wing has notched at least one goal in his last five games. Marek Zagrapan remains Rochester's top goal scorer with 14, while rookie defenseman/forward Marc-Andre Gragnani has registered a team-lead 21 assists. Gragnani also currently ranks 12th among league rookies with 25 points (4+21). Mancari and Gragnani are the only two Rochester skaters to appear in all 45 games thus far for the Amerks.

Iowa's offense is piloted by centerman Toby Petersen with 37 points (16+21) in 45 games.

Rochester returns home to welcome the first ever visit from the Quad City Flames to The Blue Cross Arena on Wednesday, January 23rd. The 7:05 p.m. contest can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will be the second meeting in four nights and the final on the season between the two clubs. The game falls on clevermethod Business Persons' Special Night.

The Amerks will return to action on Friday, January 25th as they play host to the Lake Erie Monsters. The 7:35 p.m. North Division matchup will be the first game of a home-and-home series between the new rivals. The contest falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Friday Night Frenzies.
