Crunch Announce Winners of U.S. Army High School 'Recruits of the Week'

Syracuse, NY (January 21, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today the winners of the U.S. Army High School 'Recruits of the Week' for the week ending January 20, 2008.

Throughout the 2007-08 season, the Crunch, along with the U.S. Army will present the U.S. Army 'Recruits of the Week' in Section III hockey. The 'Recruits of the Week' are high school hockey players in Section III who have been chosen for their outstanding play in that week's games.

Each week, winners will be chosen to represent each of the Section III hockey divisions (Division I, Division II - East and Division II - West).

The U.S. Army 'Recruits of the Week' for the week ending January 20 are:

Division I - Matt Esposito (Fayetteville-Manlius - Freshman): Esposito managed a point on each of the Hornets four goals (1g, 3a) against Oswego on January 15 (4-3 Hornets win).

Division II - West - Griffin Ferrigan (Christian Brothers Academy - Senior): This senior goaltender led his squad to a 1-0-2 record in three league games this past week. Ferrigan stopped 90 of 93 shots, while notching one shutout during that span.

Division II - East - Chris Snyder (Clinton - Senior): Snyder nothched 6 goals and 4 assists for 10 points in three league games - all of which ended as Warrior victories.

Winners will receive four (4) tickets to an upcoming Crunch home game and a special U.S. Army/Syracuse Crunch jersey, courtesy of the U.S. Army.

The Crunch's next game is Tuesday, January 22 as they travel to Cleveland to take on the Lake Erie Monsters. The Crunch's next home game is Saturday, February 2 vs. San Antonio at the War Memorial at Oncenter at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444, stopping by the Oncenter Box Office, located on the State Street side of the War Memorial or by calling TicketMaster at (315) 472-0700.
