TORONTO, ONTARIO - Hamilton Bulldogs forward Sven Andrighetto scored twice and goaltender Dustin Tokarski made 19 saves as the 'Dogs (22-22-0-4) edged the Toronto Marlies (28-16-2-2) 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario.
Less than a minute into the game, Toronto forward Jerry D'Amigo collected a rebound in tight and beat Tokarski to give the Marlies a 1-0 lead. Forwards Josh Leivo and Kory Nagy notched assists on the play.
Hamilton defenceman Jarred Tinordi replied at 5:02 of the first period with his third goal of the season to tie the game 1-1, unassisted.
At 12:44 of the first period, Andrighetto was credited with his 11th goal of the season to put Hamilton ahead 2-1 on the power play, with assists from forward Martin St. Pierre and defenceman Nathan Beaulieu.
Hamilton forward Mike Blunden gave his club a 3-1 lead on the power play with his 10th goal of the season at 13:24 of the second period, assisted by Beaulieu and St. Pierre.
Just 56 seconds into the third period, Andrighetto dangled past the Toronto defence and beat goaltender Drew MacIntyre to put a stranglehold on the game, 4-1. His team-leading 12th goal of the season was unassisted.
Toronto forward Greg McKegg scored on the power play at 8:37 of the third period to make it a 4-2 game, assisted by defenceman T.J. Brennan and forward Brandon Kozun.
McKegg got the game to within one, 4-3, with the Toronto net empty for an extra attacker in the final minute, with assists from forward Jerred Smithson and D'Amigo.
Tokarski made 19 saves on 22 shots in the Bulldogs net in the win. Drew MacIntyre made 24 saves on 28 shots for the Marlies in the loss.
Hamilton went 2-for-6 on the power play, while Toronto went 1-for-7.
