Capitals Re-Assign Brouillette, Wellman and Wey to Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Washington Capitals have re-assigned defensemen Julien Brouillette and Patrick Wey and center Casey Wellman to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.
Brouillette, 27, played in two games with the Capitals, registering two points (one goal, one assist). The 5'11", 196-pound defenseman recorded his first NHL point with an assist in his NHL debut on Feb. 6 against Winnipeg and scored his first NHL goal, the game-winning goal, on Feb. 8 against New Jersey. Brouillette played in 29 games with Hershey this season, registering 14 points (nine goals, five assists) and 10 penalty minutes. The Saint-Esprit, Que., native ranks first among Bears defensemen in goals this season. Brouillette has recorded 64 points (21 goals, 43 assists) and 263 penalty minutes in 238 career AHL games with Providence, Hartford, Charlotte, Lake Erie and Hershey.
Wellman, 26, skated in nine games with Washington, earning three points (two goals, one assist). The Brentwood, California, native made his Capitals debut on Dec. 17 at Philadelphia and scored his first Capitals goal on Jan. 25 at Montreal. Wellman has appeared in 50 career NHL games with Minnesota and Washington, registering 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) and four penalty minutes.
Wellman appeared in 37 games for the Bears this season, registering 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) and six penalty minutes. The 6'0", 183-pound center has recorded 158 points (65 goals, 93 assists) and 69 penalty minutes in 206 career AHL games with Houston, Connecticut, San Antonio and Hershey.
Wey, 22, played in three games with the Capitals, registering two assists. The 6'3", 212-pound defenseman made his NHL debut on Dec. 7 against Nashville and earned his first NHL point with an assist on Feb. 6 against Winnipeg. Wey appeared in 14 games with Hershey this season, registering three points (one goal, two assists) and 16 penalty minutes. Wey began the season with the Reading Royals (ECHL), tallying three assists in eight games.
