Oklahoma City Barons News Release

The Charlotte Checkers tied it the game late, but Roman Horak won it in overtime as the Oklahoma City Barons beat Charlotte 4-3 at Time Warner Cable Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Charlotte got off to a good start as Justin Shugg beat Richard Bachman with a sharp angle shot after gathering a nice pass from Ryan Murphy at 17:33 with the Checkers on the power play. The Checkers took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, Austin Fyten tied the game at one on a well executed 2-on-1 with Anthon Lander at 1:31.

Just over seven minutes later, Jack Combs put the Barons in front on a wrap around goal. Fyten and Lander were credited with the assists.

Brendan Woods then drove the net and got his own rebound, beating Bachman and tying the game at two as the second period ended.

In the third, Will Acton went off for a tripping minor, but when the penalty expired he got a pass that led to another Barons lead.

With just 38 seconds remaining in the third, Brody Sutter evened the score at three, forcing overtime.

In the overtime frame, after recording a hat trick Friday night, Roman Horak picked up a puck, carried it into the zone and blasted a shot over the glove of Mike Murphy to win the game for the Barons.

The Barons will play Friday, February 14 at the Cox Convention Center where they'll take on the Lake Erie Monsters at 7 p.m. CT.
