Bulldogs Begin Road Trip With Three Games Away From Copps Coliseum This Week

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will begin a six-game road trip this week with three games against two North Division rivals. The first game will be played against the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) and the next two games are against the Abbotsford Heat (AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames). The 'Dogs will face-off against the Americans on Wednesday, March 16th at 7:05 P.M. at Blue Cross Arena. Following Wednesdays game the 'Dogs will face the Heat on Friday, March 18th at 10:00 pm and Saturday, March 19th at 10:00 pm, both at Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre.

In Hamilton's first game this week, they battled the Rockford IceHogs (AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks). Drew MacIntyre played a solid game stopping 33 shots but the 'Dogs fell 2-1 in a shootout. Ice Hogs' Brandon Pirri scored the shootout winner to lead his team to victory. The Bulldogs then started their stretch of three games in three days on Friday against the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche). Ian Schultz recorded his first ever AHL point on a J.T. Wyman goal late in the 3rd period. Cameron Gaunce scored a goal and recorded two assists which led to a 4-2 win for the Monsters. On Saturday, the 'Dogs battled the Texas Stars (AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars) and defeated them 3-2. Ian Schultz added another first, this time scoring his first ever AHL goal, while Hunter Bishop scored the game-winning goal. Travis Morin notched both goals for Texas. In Hamilton's final game of the week on Sunday, they were defeated 6-5 by the Rochester Americans. Aaron Palushaj scored two goals and added an assist in a losing effort while Andrew Conboy also had three points. Mike Kostka and Patrick Rissmiller led the Americans each with three points, both recoding a goal and two assists. After a busy weekend, the Bulldogs find themselves third in the North Division standings, 1 point behind the second place Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs), and three points behind the Manitoba Moose (AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks).

- The Bulldogs' power play sits eighth in the standings capitalizing on 19.5% of their chances with the man advantage.

- F Ian Schultz recorded his first AHL point with an assist on Friday March 11th versus the Lake Erie Monsters. He then scored his first AHL goal against the Texas Stars on Saturday March 12th.

- LW Andrew Conboy and RW Aaron Palushaj both recorded three points versus the Rochester Americans on Sunday March 13th. Both players have recorded 4 points in their past 2 games.

- RW J.T. Wyman played his 200th AHL game on March 11th, recording a goal and an assist in the 4-2 loss to Lake Erie

- D Mathieu Carle is only one point behind Andre Benoit on the Bulldogs all-time points list by a defenceman. Benoit holds the record for most all-time points by a 'Dogs defenceman with 93 (23G,70A) while Carle has 92 (29G,63A)

- St. Louis RW Matt D'Agostini tallied an assist in a 5-4 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets (Mar. 7), scored a goal and an assist against the Montreal Canadiens in a 4-1 win (Mar. 10) and recorded a goal and an assist vs. the Detroit Red Wings in a 5-3 defeat (Mar. 12).

- Montreal G Carey Price made 31 saves in a 4-1 victory vs. the Boston Bruins (Mar. 8) and then recorded a shutout by making 26 saves versus the Pittsburgh Penguins with a 3-0 win (Mar. 12).

- Montreal C Tomas Plekanec had an assist in a 4-1 win over Boston (Mar. 8) and he netted a goal in a 3-0 defeat of the Penguins (Mar. 12).

- St. Louis G Jaroslav Halak made 22 saves in a 4-3 overtime win against the Columbus Blue Jackets (Mar. 9) and then made 28 saves in a 4-1 victory vs. the Montreal Canadiens (Mar 10.).

- Toronto C Mikhail Grabovski earned a goal in a 3-2 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers (Mar. 10) and scored a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres (Mar. 12).

- Dallas C Mike Ribeiro recorded a goal and two assists against the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-3 victory, he had a goal in a 4-3 shootout loss versus the Calgary Flames (Mar. 9) and scored a goal and an assist against the Minnesota Wild in a 4-0 win (Mar. 11).
