Senators Re-Assign Ryan Potulny and Derek Smith to Binghamton

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 14, 2011) - The Ottawa Senators today re-assigned forward Ryan Potulny and defenceman Derek Smith to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators .

Potulny, 26, was acquired by the Senators on Feb. 28 from the Chicago Blackhawks and recalled to Ottawa on March 1. He has been held scoreless in seven games with the Senators and in 10 National Hockey League games this season. Potulny has recorded 18 goals and 23 assists in 58 games with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, this season.

Smith, 26, was recalled to Ottawa for the first time this season on March 1. He recorded his first NHL point, an assist, in Ottawa's 3-1 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on March 3. In seven games with Ottawa, he has one point and a +3 rating. In 59 games with the B-Sens, Smith has recorded 43 points (10 goals, 33 assists) and added 19 penalty minutes.

The B-Sens, in fifth place in the AHL's East Division with a 34-25-3-4 record and 75 points, next see action on Wednesday, March 16, when they visit the Adirondack Phantoms at 7 p.m.
